Program Overview

The PreMedSKL Program

A Unique Premed Educational Experience For High School Students

PreMedSKL is an enrichment program that gives high school students early exposure to medicine.

PreMedSKL’s core curriculum consists of asynchronous video-based lessons and assignments. These are supported by live (virtual) weekly sessions (called “office hours”) where medical students and residents will review those lessons with the students, answer questions about the core material, and share a bit about their personal journey. These weekly office hours take place virtually via a web conferencing platform.

The 2026 main program is split in to two 12-week semesters, with a break for summer:

Spring Semester

Mar. 02, 2026 → May 29, 2026

Fall Semester

Sep. 14, 2026 → Dec. 18, 2026

Mentorship Responsibilities

PreMedSKL Mentor Role Overview

This is a two-semester mentorship commitment for medical students and residents. The program is designed to be flexible with your medical school schedule, focusing on high impact and shared responsibility. Mentors work in pairs to manage the workload and ensure consistent support for their student group.

  • Mentor Orientation: Mentors are expected to attend a brief orientation zoom meeting prior to the start of the Spring (Mar 2026) semester.
  • Preperation: Review asynchronous content (videos, readings) prior to your weekly meeting to prepare for group discussion and questions. (Minimal prep time required, as materials are provided.)
  • Office Hours: You and a partner will host at least two 1-hour Zoom meetings per semester. Sessions are currently scheduled for Tuesdays at 8:00 PM ET.

We ensure mentors have all the resources necessary to succeed and also make this experience valuable for their CV/professional development. As a mentor you will be provided with:

  • Full Program Access: Receive complete access to the program content—the exact curriculum, case studies, and resources the students are working through.
  • Discussion Guides: Provided with presentation slides and discussion guides to easily structure and lead your weekly sessions.
  • Paired Mentorship: Working with a co-mentor significantly reduces the planning load and provides schedule flexibility.
  • Professional Development: Gain valuable teaching and leadership experience to strengthen your medical school or residency application/CV.
  • Compensation: This is a paid opportunity. Medical Student mentors are paid $50 per 1-hour session that they host; Resident Mentors are paid $75 per 1-hour session.
